Being contracted by a wonderfully bold homeowner, Embed Creative created a substantial art program for a high-end, livable-luxury, contemporary, modern New York private home. Working in conjunction with the interior designer, we waffled between choosing what comes first—art or design. Having the deadline as the most critical deliverable, synchrony was the way to go. Embed Creative started by taking a long, humdrum hallway and turning it into a black-and-white photo gallery of 30 prints by Swiss-born American graphic designer Herbert Matter. Matter, a friend and neighbor of Jackson Pollock, worked with the process of autopositive photography and long exposures creating exceptional fluid imagery.

In the much-lived-in neutral palette family room, we placed an Allan D’Arcangelo in conversation with Charles Hindman’s three-dimensional shaped canvas painting complementarity with Chakaia Booker’s elaborate complex assemblage of discarded rubber tires. Embed Creative believes all successful projects can mix high and low price points. Additionally, we added four LeRoy Grannis surf prints to an oversized bedroom. The project was a successful marriage of art and objects in a truly personal way."
